The Exchange & Trade Experience Unit is a vital part of the Customer Experience Platform, focused on managing digital products that support customized solutions for Bayer Crop Science. This unit expertly navigates the complexities of evolving business models, ensuring high availability, handling significant transaction volumes, and meeting industry requirements through modern architectures and technologies. By utilizing a DevOps model, our teams are committed to developing new features and providing support for critical products that serve various personas, including Farmers, Partners, and Sales & Service representatives.

YOUR MISSION WILL BE TO:

Staff Software Engineers are focused on building and coordinating technical direction across teams.  As experts in both technical and domain areas, they work with Software Engineers, Principal Engineers, Product Managers and other digital product functions to set relevant long-term technical goals and drive innovative solutions that will continue to build on Bayer Crops Science’s market advantage. They also drive a focus on education and help develop team skillsets to match technical strategy.

• Work as part of an agile development team to build and support applications.
• Work with team and product manager to manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Interact directly with business customers to gather and understand requirements and how they translate in application features.
• Develop applications and services using the right tool for the job.
• Consistently contribute to solving organization-wide problems including shared platforms, libraries, and frameworks.
• Conduct functional and non-functional testing.
• Troubleshoot and debug applications.
• Deploy applications across all environments in collaboration with engineering team and product management.
• Champion code quality including unit and integration testing.
• Evaluate existing applications to refactor, update and add new features.
• Develop any technical documentation needed to accurately represent application design and code.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to improve own knowledge and skills and those of more junior engineers.
• Identify opportunities to develop new and better solutions.
• Anticipate and address technical and organizational obstacles affecting own team and teams within the domain platform.
• Provide guidance for technical design and architecture decisions within and across teams.
• Participate in the evaluation and selection of new technologies.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor other people and teams on technologies, techniques or standards across the organization.
• Build relationships with key members of partner teams.
• Owns complex problems that span multiple teams.
• Able to clearly communicate the progress of a team and represent technical material at an appropriate level for the audience.

ARE YOU READY FOR THE POSITION?

Must have:

• 8 years experience in solving challenging technical problems in two or more of the following areas:
  • Single page web application development.
  • Unix/Linux environment management.
  • Cloud based continuous delivery and environment management.
  • Mobile application development.
  • Modern architectural principles and practices.
  • Large, distributed system development.
  • Software security.
  • Processing and analyzing large data sets.
• 3 years designing cloud-based software solutions.
• Practical experience and understanding of industry practices, engineering principles, concepts, and standards. 
• Expertise in at least one technology or facet of product development (research, design, programming, testing).
• Demonstrates capable business insight, strategic mindset, cultivates innovation, drives vision & purpose, and attracts & develops talent leadership competencies and decision-making skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).
• Mastery of programming languages, with expertise in Java.
• Proficiency in SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis).
• Familiarity with CI/CD version control tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, ArgoCD) for effective collaboration and source code change management.
• Advanced knowledge of containers and orchestration (Kubernetes, Fargate, Docker) with hands-on experience in their configuration and management.
• Understanding of information security principles and the ability to implement appropriate security measures, such as authentication, authorization, and encryption, to protect data and prevent cyberattacks.
• DevOps and SRE mindset, promoting automation and best practices in observability.

Nice to Have:

• Implementation of infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Implementation of advanced monitoring and logging (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK).
• Definition and monitoring of SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs, ensuring predictability and failure mitigation.
• Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish (written and spoken).
