POSITION SUMMARY
CVS Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Data Scientist to join and technically lead our growing team. This Principal Data Scientist will be responsible for security strategies utilizing industry security standards, normative comparisons with industry peers, best practice research and Aetna specific business and technology requirements. Additionally, this Principal Data Scientist will help to define, drive and deliver all aspects of the data science product lifecycle, from requirements gathering, education, and strategy, to study design, solution architecting, programming, testing, implementation, delivery, and iteration of data science analytics products.
What We Expect of You:
Coordinate advanced data science projects and develops deliverables, taking ownership of assigned tasks and ensuring their successful completion.
Drive data science strategies and methodologies for specific projects, applying domain knowledge and expertise to drive impactful outcomes.
Develop methods for conducting risk assessments for data science initiatives, identifying potential vulnerabilities and proposing mitigation strategies.
Apply advanced knowledge of data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance, privacy, and ethical use of healthcare data.
Conduct advanced analysis of the organization's data science needs, capabilities, and gaps to identify opportunities for improvement and provide recommendations for optimization.
Plan major risk assessments for data science initiatives, identifying potential vulnerabilities and proposing mitigation strategies.
Advise senior management of multiple departments to contribute data-driven insights, expertise, and solutions to address healthcare challenges.
Manage team performance through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional services and engagement, motivation, and team development.
Master industry trends and emerging technologies, continuously enhancing skills and knowledge to contribute effectively as an independent contributor in the field of data science.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of expertise in machine learning, statistical analysis, security, and network data to model risk-driven models of workforce behavior and provide context to security analysts to drive business decisions.
8+ years of programming experience in Python and experience with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
8+ years of customer interfacing experience (internal or external), demonstrating excellent ability to communicate technical ideas and results to non-technical audiences.
5+ years' experience with Gen AI/LLM/NLP/MLOps or similar methodologies.
5+ years of proven experience in providing strategic leadership by proactively recommending innovative research techniques and customer engagement opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive experience developing computational methods and algorithms.
Extensive experience in software development.
Experience developing and applying data science methods to anomaly detection and/or times series problems.
Experience in Cloud computing environment.
Master’s degree in data science, Mathematics, Statics. PhD.
Education
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$144,200.00 - $288,400.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
